A lesson learned with laughter lasts forever.
A long, long time ago in a state far, far away I earned my BA in Elementary Education. I have taught grades 1-4 in South Carolina, Indiana, Texas (Plano), California, and now am thrilled to be teaching at Forest Trail. This is my 24nd year teaching and my 5th year at FTE. While my own children were young I was very active in their school activities and volunteered on a regular basis in their schools. I've seen the education process from many angles and have held leadership positions in many school related organizations. I am fortunate to work with a team of teachers whose combined experience is nearly 100 years! Together we plan and confer about the best ways to reach and guide second graders as they apply the skills they're acquiring. We pride ourselves on providing activities that address the curriculum but also extend and differentiate for the individual differences of our students. I believe teaching young children is a shared process that involves the student, parent and teacher. I also believe that school should be an engaging, inviting place where students and teachers mutually respect one another. I strive to create that environment in my classroom. Learning, wrapped in a nurturing environment is a lot of fun. We have fun everyday! To reach me e-mail mries@eanesisd.net. My planning period is 10:10-11:00 MTThF. | |
